Co-op Connections Program
Visit our Co-op Connections website to view a list of participating businesses. You can search for participating pharmacies at the Locate Providers website. This program is made possible through MJM's membership with Touchstone Energy, an alliance of over 660 consumer-owned cooperatives spread across 46 states. If you have any questions about the program, please contact member services director Bronson Borowiak at 217-414-6576 or at bronsonb@mjmec.coop.
CFLs use four times less energy than standard incandescent light bulbs to produce the same amount of light. This saves electricity, which reduces your bill and reduces the amount of emissions from power plants since less power is needed for the energy-efficient CFLs. You can help reduce those emissions even more by recycling used CFLs. Drop any used lights off at our front desk. We'll package them and ship them to a recycling facility in Wisconsin operated by world-renowned recycling leader Veolia. For more information on CFLs, visit Energy Star.
MJM Electric Cooperative offers net metering to members connecting a wind, solar, or other type of generator to our electrical grid. Through the net metering program, you will be credited for any excess electricity you generate. This is accomplished by installing a meter that rolls back whenever the generator puts electricity onto the lines. For each kilowatt hour put onto the lines, the meter rolls back one kilowatt hour. In effect, we pay you retail price for the electricity. If you generate more electricity than you use, we credit that amount to your next bill. This policy only covers generators capable of generating 10 kilowatt hours per hour or less. Larger systems fall under a different policy. You can view a copy of our net metering policy here. You must contact us before installing your generator because it needs to meet certain specifications before being hooked into our lines. This is for safety as well as legal reasons. Even if you are connecting a traditional propane or gasoline powered generator, you should contact us if it is going to be hooked into your home’s electrical system, and by extension into our lines. You will also be required to fill out, sign, and return an interconnection agreement prior to installation of the generator. You can view a sample agreement here. Please note this is a sample only. To obtain your official interconnection agreement form, call the office or email bronsonb@mjmec.coop.
